Newness

This week, several new and exciting things have happened. One, my amazing husband Chris, bought me a really cool laptop of my very own! Two, I cut my hair fairly short. Wow, crazy!

P.S. What do you think about my hair?

Driveway Makeover

For the last week and a half, my parent's driveway has had a makeover. There was a patch of grass on the side of the driveway that we the children would park our cars, and we eventually killed the grass in that area. So, my wise father decided to tear out the grass and lay down some paving stones. It took a lot of work, especially from my cousin Jeremy (who pretty much did 85% of the work), and it turned out amazing! Way to go! I even helped a little!

Our Garden

This year, Chris and I thought it would be fun to attempt to grow a small garden. In the spring we planted some peppers, ochre, cucumbers, squash and pumpkins. So far, our vine plants like the cucumber, squash and pumpkins are doing amazing (they are the huge plants on the right), and are quickly taking over! The peppers and ochre are not doing quite as hot, we haven't given up on them, but I'm not sure that they will produce much. For our first gardening attempt, I think that we're doing pretty good. Hopefully we can have some killer pumpkins for this Halloween!!

Fun at the zoo

Today was just one of those days where I didn't want to stay at home (my parents are out of town, and everyone else was working). So, I asked Amanda if she wanted to have a girl's day out. We decided that it would be fun to visit the zoo and off we went. It was so much fun! We saw the monkey's, reptiles, camels, and the new baby snow leopard (SOOO CUTE!!!!!!). Luckily, it wasn't as crowded as we thought it would be and since it was so hot outside (over 100 degrees) the animals were given huge ice cubes to eat and play with. It was pretty cute to see. My favorite animals were the BABY SNOW LEOPARD, the Red Panda (who was asleep, so adorable!!), and the bears (one was doing sit ups or something, it was pretty funny to watch). When we couldn't stand the heat much longer, we drove home and went to get some soft serve ice cream. It was the perfect way to cool down and end our girl's day out! Thanks for such a fun day Amanda!

Jeep

Old Jeep+New Tires+New Rims=AWESOMENESS!!!!

Strawberry Bay

So, this year for Independence Day, Chris had the day off (rare!!!) and we decided to go camping. We packed up our jeep, grabbed our dog (his first camping trip) and headed out to Strawberry Bay, UT. We also brought my dad's canoe, and the three of us (Chris, Gir, and I) went fishing. At first, Gir was not quite sure about canoeing, but he soon got a hang of it!
The total fish that we caught was 3, but the amount that we were allowed to keep was 0. I was
pretty annoyed. I caught this beautiful about 20'' fish but he was an illegal size to keep, so I had to put him back. I also caught a rainbow trout who snapped the line just as we were trying to get him into the boat, and another illegal sized fish. Darn it!
For the rest of the day, we just relaxed. Chris took a nice long nap, Gir chased
some local ground hog/prairie dog that was at our campsite, and I read a book and made dinner. After we ate, we tried our luck at night fishing, but didn't catch anything, so we started a campfire and made s'mores. Chris can make some amazing s'mores!! I don't think that I've ever had better. While we were enjoying our s'mores, far in the distance, we could see some lightning, so we kinda got a firework show for Independence Day. We had a lot of fun and hope to be able to go camping again for Independence Day!
P.S. Gir did amazing on his first camping trip! I was really impressed, and I think that we're going to try taking him camping more often.
