The Veggies of our labor

Our garden experiment this year has been an amazing success! We have been picking many cucumbers, some of our squash is growing and we finally have a pumpkin! I just hope that it will be big enough to carve for Halloween! If nothing else, we can carve the many gourd squash that we have! I think that we should continue this experiment and maybe try something new!

The Scarlet Pimpernel

The musical The Scarlet Pimpernel is one of my ultimate favorite musicals of all time! Last Christmas (Christmas 2008), Chris got me two tickets to this fantastic play, which was going to be in Utah this August. I was so excited! Well, after 8 months of waiting, we finally get to go! We are going tonight at 7:30 at the Hale Center Theater in West Valley. This is the first time that Chris will be seeing this play and I sure hope he likes it, so that we can go again in the future! Hurray for Christmas in August!

Congratulations Chris!

Chris got a new Co-Op internship at L3 Communications! Congratulations! This is an exciting career move for Chris who is going into electrical engineering. He will be able to stay with the company for the rest of school, and may possibly be offered a permanent job with the company upon graduation! Good luck with your new job Chris!

Michigan

Chris and I took a much needed vacation to Michigan for the past week and a half to visit Chris' parents and see the sites. We started our vacation by going to the largest Christmas store in the world called Bronners. I love this store! It is about the size of two Costco's put together full of Christmas delights such as ornaments (which can be personalized), stocking, music, Nativity Scenes, figurines, and much more. We got several beautiful ornaments and some figurines. We then visited the cute village of Frankenmuth for some amazing chicken as well as cheese and fudge! It was heaven! Our next big adventure was going to Mackinac Island where we went to an old fort, ate fudge and ice cream, walked around and saw horse drawn carriages and bicycles everywhere (cars are not allowed on the island) and went to a butterfly house. It was such a fun day! We then went on a boat cruise in the upper peninsula of Michigan called Picture Rocks where there were beautiful rock formations and colors! Next we did a nature walk to a waterfall and enjoyed the scenery. Our next destination was to the Petoskey State Park Beach where Chris looked for Petoskey Stones (stones containing fossils that are only found in the Petoseky area), enjoyed the beach, and walked around the city of Petoseky. On our way back to the Miller's house, we stopped by Sleeping Bear Sandunes where Chris and I climbed up some gigantic sandunes! It was hard, but the view at the top was well worth the effort! When we got back to the home base, we went to Greenfield Village which had many famous historic building such as Edison's workshop. We got to eat a meal from the 1850's and watch various craftsmen such as glass blowers and potters practice their trade. On the last day of our trip we went to the Detroit Temple with Mom and Dad Miller and took a tour of Detroit! Unfortunately, vacations have to end and we came home. Thanks Michigan Millers for a wonderful vacation! We had so much fun and hope to make it back up there soon!
