Desolation Trail

Since Chris and I both had school and work off today, thanks to Independence Day, we decided that a hike was in order. We decided to hike up Mill Creek Canyon near Salt Lake City so that we could take Gir with us (due to the watershed in the canyons closer to our house, dogs aren't allowed up those canyons). It was a beautiful day for a hike, the weather was warm, not too hot, and had a nice breeze to cool us down. The trail is 4 miles long round trip, with a view of the Salt Lake valley at the end. Gir was such a good Adventure dog. We were able to take him off of his leash the entire hike and he stayed right by our side. In fact, he liked to hike in between Chris and I, and if I got too far behind (due to taking pictures and my slower pace) he would sit and wait for me to make sure that I was still behind him. Needless to say, it was super cute. It felt so good to be able to be outside and enjoying nature today and we were glad that hiking is something that we both enjoy and can do with Gir. All of us are now pretty tired from our adventure (even Gir was wiped out which does not happen very often). Hopefully, we will be able to go on some more hikes soon.

We were at Millcreek Canyon on Saturday. Looks like you had a fun hike. Where is the trailhead? We mostly go to BBQ and hang out in the picnic areas.

Its a little bit past the boy scout camps, near the Mill Creek Inn (on the left side). Its an awesome hike! We have been there twice so far and love it! It has a great view of the Salt Lake Valley in the end.
